YOU ARE FORGIVEN - Pastor Dr. Evans Ankomah

YOU ARE FORGIVEN

Jesus died to provide forgiveness for you. Because of his death, burial and resurrection, you have forgiveness in Christ.
Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: (Acts 13:38)
Through Jesus Christ is preached the forgiveness of sins. This means that forgiveness can only be found in Jesus Christ. The person who has received Jesus has received the forgiveness of sins.
To be forgiven means to have your sins wiped away. It is to have your sins blotted out as though it never happened. Jesus Christ through his death on the cross has wiped away our sins by his blood. Anyone who believes in him is forgiven of all sins.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (Colossians 2:13)
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)
In Christ, we have the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace. God has forgiven us of all our sins and promised never to remember it again.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12)

GOD IS NOT ANGRY AT YOU
Many people see themselves as carrying a sin debt, they believe that God is holding their sins against them and will punish us. However, the bible says otherwise. God has promised not to remember our sins or punish us.
"Just as I swore in the time of Noah that I would never again let a flood cover the earth, so now I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you. (Isaiah 54:9)
This tells us that we don’t have to be afraid that God will punish us for our sins or that he is angry with us. Through the cross, Jesus has taken away all our sins. He has provided forgiveness for us. He bored the wrath of God on our behalf. As a result, God will not be angry with us or punish us.
YOU ARE FREE FROM SIN AND GUILT
Don’t beat up yourself because you have done something. Don’t nurse guilt because it can destroy you. Many people think that feeling guilty will cause a person to live right but actually guilt will rather bind you to sin. The more you feel guilty, the more you are liable to repeat the same offence. This is why Jesus died for our sins. He took our guilt so that we can be free of it. He went through all the pain so that he can set you free from sin. So don’t bind yourself to sin, Jesus has set your free from sin.
THE BLOOD IS POWERFUL
What the blood of bulls and goats couldn’t do because it was weak, the blood of Jesus accomplished. The blood of bulls and goats could only cover sin; it could not wipe away sins completely. Again, it could only cover sins for just a year. That shows that the blood of animals didn’t have the power to take away sins completely.
The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. (Hebrews 10:1-2)
So Jesus did not offer the blood of bulls and goats. He entered into the holies of holies with his own blood and secured eternal redemption for us.
With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. (Hebrews 9:12, NLT)
We have eternal redemption, that means that we have been redeemed from sin and its punishment. This was made possible by the blood of Jesus. The blood was potent enough to wipe away all our sins. This means that no matter how bad your sins, the powerful blood of Jesus has wiped it all away.
This is also why you need to come to Christ, if you haven’t accepted him. No matter what you have done, his blood can cleanse you. It can make you white as snow.
WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE
When you sin, remember that you have an advocate with the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who shed his blood to wipe away your sins.

1My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. (1 John 2:1-2, NLT)
Don’t nurse guilt and continue in the sin. Recognize what Jesus did for you and you will find the power to move out from the sin. You are forgiven for his name sake.
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake (1 John 2:12)
Knowing how much you are forgiven in Christ won’t cause you to sin more. Rather, it will cause you to be set free from sin. It will help you see your dominion over sin. Let this knowledge set you free from every bondage and give you the power to exert your dominion over sin.
